Terms of service
Effective 3 August 2026
1. Agreement
By installing, accessing, or using ParseNutrition, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. These terms are between you and Lucas Ekström, the operator of ParseNutrition (see Contact below for full details).
2. Who can use the app
The ParseNutrition closed test is available only to adults aged 18 or older. If a legacy profile identifies its user as under 18, health tracking, targets, fasting, body composition and AI features are unavailable. The profile is not deleted automatically: export, account deletion, sign-out, support, and legal pages remain available.
3. Not medical advice
ParseNutrition is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Its calorie targets, macro splits, diet presets, fasting schedules, and every AI estimate are educational tools for tracking, not medical or dietetic advice. Consult a doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have diabetes or another medical condition, take medication affected by food intake, or have a history of disordered eating. If tracking starts to feel harmful, stop using the app and seek qualified help.
4. Estimates, not measurements
Nutrition numbers in the app come from a curated food database, community-contributed product data, your own entries, and optional AI estimates from photos or pasted recipe text. All of these can be wrong: portion sizes vary, community data contains errors, and an AI is making an educated guess. Community-sourced entries are labelled in the app and every value is editable. You are responsible for sanity-checking the numbers you rely on, particularly if you track for a medical reason. Estimated body-fat percentage and FFMI are also informational estimates; they do not silently change calorie or macro targets.
5. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for everything done under your account. Email support@parsenutrition.com immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
6. Purchases, billing, and refunds
ParseNutrition may offer monthly and yearly AI subscriptions through Google Play. The app displays only the current local price, taxes, renewal period, availability and any account-eligible introductory phase returned by Google Play before you confirm. If current store terms cannot be loaded, purchase controls remain unavailable and no fallback price or trial is advertised. RevenueCat processes entitlement status; ParseNutrition never handles your card details.
If an AI subscription is offered and you buy it, it renews at the end of each billing period until you cancel from Google Play subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps access until the end of the paid period. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. The following rule applies to the 1.0.0+40 production candidate. Signed-out local use is free and may be ad-supported after UMP permits requests and every remote/runtime gate passes; signing in does not itself remove ads, while an active monthly/yearly subscription or historical lifetime ad-free entitlement does. An unresolved sign-in transition, a Firebase anonymous identity, or unknown or stale signed-in purchase, restore, or entitlement state fails closed with no ad request.
Refunds: if you make a purchase, request a refund directly through Google Play. If Google Play cannot handle the request itself, email support@parsenutrition.com and we can issue a refund through the Play Console where appropriate. Nothing in this section limits your statutory refund rights.
EU and EEA right of withdrawal: if you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you have a 14-day right to withdraw from a new paid purchase. When you buy through Google Play you agree that access starts right away. You can still cancel within 14 days of purchase: request a refund through Google Play, or email us and we will arrange it. Your statutory consumer rights always stay intact.
7. AI features and fair use
AI scans are gated behind an 18+ confirmation and explicit data-use consent, described in the privacy policy. The subscription includes a monthly scan allowance shown in the app; the allowance resets at the start of each calendar month (not each billing period) and unused scans do not accumulate. AI output is an estimate you should review and can always edit. Do not submit photos of people, identity documents, personal data, or text unrelated to food; we may rate-limit or suspend AI access that looks automated or abusive, and the AI service may be temporarily unavailable without affecting the rest of the tracker.
8. The free tier and ads
The core tracker — logging, search, barcode scanning, recipes, diet presets, the fasting timer, and cloud sync — is free and will not be moved behind a paywall for data you have already logged. The 1.0.0+40 production candidate includes Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform. Eligible free users may see one fixed, clearly labeled banner at the bottom of Diary; there are no app-open, interstitial, rewarded, or native ads. Where required, UMP obtains an advertising privacy choice before an ad request. You can revisit it at Settings → Ad privacy choices when UMP requires that option. This is independent of health-data and AI consent. Google may process limited ad-related data as described in the privacy policy, but ParseNutrition does not collect the Advertising ID and never supplies diary, search, weight, fasting, pregnancy, profile, or other health data for ad targeting. We may adjust what the free tier includes over time and will announce material changes in the app.
9. Food database content and Open Food Facts
Branded product data comes from Open Food Facts, a community database made available under the Open Database License (ODbL); its contents are covered by the Database Contents License. This data is provided as-is by volunteer contributors and we do not guarantee its accuracy. The app is a consumer of this database, not a redistribution of it: bulk export of Open Food Facts-sourced records from the app is not offered or permitted. Attribution appears in the app under Settings → Data sources & licenses and on the privacy policy page.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to: attempt to access another user's data, automate requests in a way that bypasses in-app limits or quotas, probe or reverse-engineer the security of our services, resell or redistribute the app or its databases, use the app to distribute unlawful material, or impersonate someone else. We may restrict or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these rules.
11. Service availability
ParseNutrition is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise uninterrupted availability of sync, barcode lookups, AI scanning, or other online features; Google Play, our cloud providers, Open Food Facts, network outages, and bugs can all cause interruptions. The app is built offline-first, so your locally stored data remains usable on your phone regardless. Nothing in this section reduces the mandatory rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your home country.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ParseNutrition is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive losses arising from your use of the app, including lost data, lost earnings, or health outcomes connected to dietary decisions made using the app's numbers. If a court decides these limits cannot apply, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including statutory consumer protections in the European Union, our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence.
13. Changes to the app and these terms
We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these terms when the app, the law, or our services change. For material changes we will give notice in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and you can cancel your subscription and stop using the app before the updated terms apply. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
14. Ending your use of the app
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account & data, or by email — see the Delete your account page for both routes. We may suspend access, after notice where practical, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or if the law requires it. Sections that by their nature survive termination (liability, intellectual property, governing law) continue to apply.
15. Intellectual property
The ParseNutrition name, logo, app, and its design, marketing copy, and in-app text are owned by the ParseNutrition developer and protected by copyright and trademark law. Your food diary, recipes, body metrics, and other logged data belong to you. Open Food Facts-sourced data remains under the ODbL as described in section 9.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will be brought before the competent Swedish courts. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and you keep the mandatory protection of that country's consumer laws. If you are a consumer in Sweden and we cannot resolve a complaint together, you can refer the dispute to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes, Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN, arn.se), Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm. We participate in its proceedings.
